Job Description

Role Summary:GE Healthcare Digital is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Edison AI Platform platform team delivering core services and technologies that empower software teams across GE Healthcare to rapidly create and deliver artificial intelligence-enabled software solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:You will be responsible for designing and programming features of the Applied Intelligence platform. You will collaborate with other team members and work with guidance from the senior team members.

Act as a member of GE Healthcare Digital's Artificial Intelligence team, representing the face of high quality design and development practices

Capture system level requirements by brainstorming with Sr. Architects, Data Scientists

Business & Product Managers

Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts

Develop high performing, scalable and innovative end-to-end web services and solutions

Collaborate with system engineers, front end developers and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions

Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques

Write code that complies with defined company standards and guidelines, delivers desired functionality using the selected technology for the project/product

Experience in building REST API and microservices

Understand performance parameters and assess application performance

Work on core data structures, algorithms and implement them using language of choice

Create standardized APIs and infrastructure to help facilitate the successful adoption of your services by other internal and external parties.

Learn and help others adopt new technologies

Qualifications/Requirements:Basic Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology,Engineering and Math)

A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Software Development OR Master's degree with 6 years of experience in Software Development

Eligibility Requirements

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills

Must be willing to travel 10%

Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA

Desired Characteristics:Technical Expertise:

Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles

Experience with public cloud infrastructure such as Amazon Web Services(AWS) or Azure

Experience with building scalable applications.

Experience developing applications with Java and use of popular frameworks such as Spring, Junit, JBehave

Experience in building REST API and microservices

Experience with SQL and No SQL database such as MySQL, Dynamo DB and Cassandra

Experience with designing and creating Web based software platforms is a big plus

Experience in building and deployment of scalable and highly available distributed systems

Experience with latest technologies like SCALA and KOTLIN is a plus

Experience in API management tools like AWS API Gateway, Apigee is a plus

Experience in Medical Imaging is a plus

Experience in Python programming a plus

Business Acumen:

Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments

Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems

Have a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application

Expert in defining work break down structure of all deliverables and estimates them for sizing

Has the ability to make basic technology comparison and decisions based on pros and cons

Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry is plus

Evangelizes how our technology solves customer problems from a technology and business perspective
