The Promotions Discovery team in Amazon owns the customer experience for point of sale promotions for all of Amazon's shoppers. Every day we solve the world's most complex technical challenges in scalability, distributed systems, large-scale computing, and Web applications - just to name a few. Our systems are invoked by website shopping applications hundreds of millions of times - each day! We are just getting started with improving the discoverability, personalization and prediction of promotions that will benefit both, our shoppers and our sellers. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead this day 1 team to build the best promotions' customer experience.

As the SDM of the Promotions Discovery team, you will interact with both business and technical stakeholders, make critical decisions on behalf of our customers and your team will implement innovative solutions that will handle millions of transactions per second reaching billions of our customers across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assume responsibility for the overall systems development lifecycle
* Partner with other members of the stakeholder group to develop the long-term strategy for the program and translate that into an achievable technical roadmap/action plan
* Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments
* Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
* Manage team resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancement and maintenance of a best-of-class engineering team and technical infrastructure
* Lead your engineering team to design and build robust, large-scale distributed systems that operate continuously and reliably
* Report to management on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance
