IoT refers to a system of physical devices, from cars, light bulbs, sensor grids and more, that connect to the Internet. There will be 50 billion connected devices in 2020 if current trends continue, and any device that consumes electricity can become connected. Application domain for IoT is very broad. It includes but not limited to industrial automation, smart homes, self-driving cars and consumer products.

The team:

Amazon's Internet of Things (AWS IoT) platform enables customers to easily connect devices to the AWS IoT message broker using industry standard lightweight protocols and ensuring maximum security while providing a full managed platform as a service. Companies from all over the world can build their smart features and apps without having to worry about building a scalable infrastructure that grows with their millions of customers and devices - because we do it for them. From simple sensors and actuators that barely have enough memory to run an OS to full-blown industrial gateways, they all can benefit from AWS IoT to receive, store and process data to implement an ever growing set of features.

The IoT Device Ecosystem team delivers software tools, applications and solutions that enable our partners and customers to develop, validate and qualify their IoT products that connect to AWS IoT services. Our industry partners include top CPU/MCU manufacturers and global device OEMs

You:

We are seeking a Software Development Manager with industry experience who is passionate about software, customer experience, operational performance through technical innovation and solid engineering. Not being shy of diving deep technically is a plus. All of our development is very customer-centric, and you should feel strongly not only about building and releasing good software, but about making that software highly reliable and scalable. Experience with AWS, IoT, web-services, embedded development, OS design and test frameworks will be helpful.

You should be someone with strong sense of ownership who enjoys working and having fun with some of the people in the industry - building complex system software to deliver significant impact for the AWS IoT business.

Key responsibilities:

* Define and execute the long-term strategy to deliver programs to meet team goals and roadmap.
* Design, build and optimize the software to run a verification engine to qualify billions of devices to the AWS eco-system.
* Automate deployment and monitoring of your services.
* Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.
* Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.
* Help recruit, interview and hire software developers.
* Mentor software developers and grow their skills, manage their performance including reviews, promotions etc.
* Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
* Drive development process improvements and establish best practices to ensure highest quality software.
