Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is Amazon's self-publishing service that strives to democratize content creation. KDP supports a hundreds of thousands of authors can quickly publish their content to a wide readership all over the globe in eBook and in print.
Our team's mission is to grow author earnings by building tools and services to help them promote and market their books after they are published. We also own a number of author-facing features on the KDP website, including promotional tools to schedule discounts, buy paid ads and a recommendations engine that provides insights to authors based on our data-driven models. Authors use our analytics and sales reporting to gauge the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns.
In 2019, we are focused on expanding our offerings to new markets in Europe and Asia as well as on adding new data-driven promotional features to help authors promote their books. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II (SDE) to help bring this vision to life.
As an SDE on our team, you will own design and delivery of our new products and features, mentor junior engineers on the team, and you will liaise with product team partners to define requirements. You should bring experience designing software for the cloud that can scale horizontally to meet the demands of KDP's huge number of authors. You will be passionate and obsess about providing a premium customer experience, and can balance the need for a high accuracy bar for sales data with the need to innovate and go fast.
The ideal candidates will have 3+ years of SDE experience preferably on Java and AWS technologies; those with transferable OOP skills in C#, C++, Python and other cloud platforms are encouraged to apply.
