The Ads Eligibility initiative is a new program focused on ensuring that our advertisers get consistent and actionable feedback about the ad serving rules and decisions that are being made by Amazon. We combine many different data sources and consume the event stream emitted by the various ad servers into a coherent narrative around the life cycle of an ad. Simultaneously, we provide a rules engine for internal users to write rules around what ads can and cannot be served; and ensure those rules are enforced. We face some very interesting technical challenges - not only do we process an enormous amount of data, we also have arbitrarily complex rules to enforce; all with tight latency and availability constraints.
