Job Description

Do you want to own and build a platform for highly scalable and reliable services central to Azure DevOps Services (dev.azure.com) and Microsoft's 1ES (One Engineering System)? Do you like the startup culture with laser focus on customers? Do you like growth hacking?

Azure DevOps Services provides software development teams with version control, build automation, project and bug management, social coding experiences and much more. We have a user base with nearly 5M users and growing. Azure DevOps Services is at the center of being the cloud solution for DevOps for large enterprises. It's also at the core of modernized engineering at Microsoft as part of 1ES. To make this possible, we're solving high scale, high reliability challenges.

Our team deploys larger features to production at the end of each sprint (3 weeks) and smaller changes to production every day. We are aspiring to get fully agile by deploying multiple changes to prod every day. We use Azure DevOps Services to build and deploy Azure DevOps Services, and our code is in a Git repo where the whole team works in master. We run our services with modern DevOps practices.

Basic Qualifications:

10+ years of experience developing software

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of experience building production software with one of more of the following: .NET Framework, ASP.NET, C / C++ / C#, SQL, REST Services and JavaScript / TypeScript

Expertise in object-oriented design gained from at least 8 years of working with OOP languages and patterns.

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

We are looking for a principal software engineer, who is seeking to make a big impact as a leader on a highly productive and collaborative team, to own and build Shared Cloud Services Platform: identity (authentication, authorization, policies), commerce, licensing, user engagement & churn, admin experience, telemetry, monitoring, and business insight.

As part of our team, you will help set strategic technical direction and lead by example through writing high-quality software. You will design, implement, deploy and operate Azure cloud services using containers, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Active Directory, Azure Commerce, and more. In addition, you will play a pivotal role in modernizing our cloud platform.
