Job Description

Enphase Energy is looking for an experienced Director of Systems Engineering and Requirements Management to help define the future of distributed energy management solutions. This is a strategic position ensuring requirements and system architecture are defined and communicated across our organization. You and your team will function as the requirements management hub working collaboratively with marketing, engineering, system test, compliance, reliability, and manufacturing defining the requirements that describe how the different component sub-systems fit and interact together to realize the desired product function and customer experience. You will lead the Systems Engineering team evaluating system architecture, subsystem tradeoffs, Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), and establishing traceability of design requirements into verification & validation. A great Director of Systems Engineering has a strong technical background, excellent communications skills, leads by influence, and is committed to mentoring/coaching their team.

Responsibilities,

* Lead the global systems engineering effort for Enphase, staff & organize the team, provide technical direction to our cross functional teams, mentor direct and indirect reports in systems engineering best practices
* Establish best practices and continuous improvement for requirements management tools, requirements creation and review practices
* Training for Enphase's global team to create, update, and review requirements and traceability from Product Requirements Documents (PRD) into design engineering and through to verification & validation
* Collaborate with cross functional managers from marketing, design engineering, system test, compliance, reliability, and manufacturing to allocate resources and plan the creation/review of engineering requirements
* Engage engineering resources to functionally decompose technical solutions & problems, provide rationales for options, document sub-assemblies and interfaces
* Partner with our marketing and compliance team to understand the global regulatory requirements
* Lead the creation of system models and simulations
* Lead the evaluation of system architecture, subsystem tradeoffs, and Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA)
* Lead your team to author and publish intellectual property documents, such as patents or white papers
* Present trade studies that compare market applications and feature needs with design constraints
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Product Lifecycle Process (PLCP)

Requirements

* Product R&D experience analyzing, creating, and managing requirements of complex systems produced in high volume
* MS in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or software engineering and 20 years of experience or equivalent combination (education and experience) which may include
* PhD and 10 years of relevant experience, or
* 25 years of relevant experience


* 7+ years of experience in technical management
* Ability to analyze complex systems, make multi-dimensional tradeoffs, and document the results
* Relevant experience in several of the following: High power electronics, electric power systems, distributed generation, DERs, energy storage systems, power supply design, and power conversion technologies, microgrids, grid services, voltage and dynamic stability analysis, transactive energy, utility industry standards electrical codes, electrical distribution, transmission and/or power system controls, cyber security, privacy, IoT ecosystems, cloud computing infrastructure & software development, microservice architectures, data analytics, machine learning, networking, real time control software/firmware, DSP, and data acquisition systems
* Ability to travel on a quarterly basis

The location of work will be in the USA, either Petaluma CA, Fremont CA or Austin TX
