Amazon.com is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to join the Textbook Rental team. This individual will leverage massive data to drive insights that will help build, scale, and optimize the Textbook Rental Business - an innovative service that has helped millions of students access lower cost course materials.
The ideal candidate is a general data athlete who demonstrates bias for action and the desire to continuously invent and simply. This person will bring together disparate data sources ranging from relational databases to unstructured real-time data and use them to solve problems that impact millions of student customers. They will work cross functionally with product, finance, operations, and data engineering teams to build new business decision-support models as well as reporting, analytical, and visualization frameworks. They should thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. Beyond technical acumen, the ideal candidate should demonstrate sound business judgment, communication skills, and most importantly, a genuine curiosity and passion for learning. Potential projects and responsibilities include:
* Building and improving quantitative models to support supply chain, pricing, and selection decisions. * Designing scalable and automated reports, dashboards, and visualizations that drive business decisions. * Using available data to analyze and assess new and high-impact business opportunities. * Using modern statistical and machine learning techniques to improve and scale customer/business insights. * Creating and maintaining high quality SQL and Python code to extract, aggregate, and analyze dataset from multiple sources (i.e. AWS Redshift, Oracle, text files, etc.).
