The Last Mile Science & Technology organization plays a crucial role in developing solutions to vehicle routing problems critical for Amazon Logistics, Prime Now, and other Amazon businesses. As an Applied Scientist - ML on our team, you will partner closely with other Machine Learning and Operations Research scientists as well as scientists from other disciplines (e.g. statistics and economics) in a collegial environment with a clear path to business impact. You will own the development and delivery of ML models for one or more problems in last mile logistics. Successful candidates will have a deep knowledge of competing statistical and machine learning methods and the engineering expertise to map models into production-worthy code, the communication skills necessary to explain complex technical approaches to a variety of stakeholders, and the discipline to build maintainable, long-lasting solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and implementing models and algorithms in support of teams across Amazon which leverage geo-spatial data and routing technology * Working in expert cross-functional teams delivering on demanding projects * Sharing knowledge in state-of-the-art solutions and techniques in research forums and internal and external publications * Protecting intellectual property by filing patents
