Mobile Engineers build software applications for iOS and Android operating systems. Specializing in the development of mobile platforms, they can work for a variety of industries including entertainment, insurance, real estate, pharmaceutical and fashion companies.
To qualify for this job, the Mobile Engineer must be able to code, debug and improve on mobile applications. They should be familiar with programming languages such as Objective-C, C++, Swift, HTML5 and Javascript. A bachelor’s of science in software engineering or computer science and work with support tools like email, web design, animation and cloud management are helpful. Problem solving, strong communication skills and the ability to work with a team are also important.
In the software engineering industry, Mobile Engineers will develop applications that work with smartphones and tablets. They must be able to use programming languages for iOS and Android systems such as HTML5, Java, C#, Swift and Objective-C. Experience with animation and cloud software services is also a necessity. Undergraduate studies in computer science or software programming will often provide the future engineer with all of these skills.
Along with designing and coding, the Mobile Engineer will build support programs such as email, calendars, maps, messaging and music apps. They might also improve software performance and speed by debugging programs or upgrading application codes.
