About the Opportunity

The VP, Quality Assurance and operations directs and controls the planning and execution of software QA functions for the automotive engineering organization. This role requires in depth knowledge of quality assurance processes and broad experience in managing onshore resources, both local and remote, as well as offshore. The VP interacts internally and externally with all levels of management on critical and complex matters. This role is expected to contribute to the leadership team and take on strategic projects in quality, operations, process improvement, dev ops automation and technology. This role is a technologist first with passion for automation of testing and all functions in the CICD pipeline.

Essential Functions

* Directs the activities of the software quality assurance function
* Develops quality standards for company products and oversees the development and execution of software test models and analysis of software quality
* Provides guidance in the evaluation of automation frameworks and automation tools. Provide recommendations for tool choices appropriate for the technology stack (.net, PLSQL,Angular etc)
* Leads the definition, implementation, and maintenance of standard QA processes, methodologies, and templates for use on client deliverables
* Drives the definition, preparation, and execution of testing strategies for client project engagements including Unit, Functional, System Integration, Performance and User Acceptance test phases according to the defined QA framework
* Facilitates communication within the practice and with customers on data quality and product quality. • Conducts testing "post-mortems" to define and document lessons learned and translate them into improvements to the QA framework
* Build an efficient QA environment that can accomplish the goals of the QA organization

Knowledge & Skills

* Able to analyze manual processes and define opportunities for offshoring, standardization, streamlining, and automation
* Able to define highly complex automated test cases and scenarios
* Able to transform and organization from manual to automated testing
* Able to review system and functional requirements and extract data to use in preparing automated test plans and scripts
* Able to use independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload
* Excellent knowledge of performance test systems
* Excellent knowledge of software development lifecycle
* Excellent knowledge of software testing lifecycle
* Knowledge of QA Methodologies, tools, related techniques, and ability to document & implement QA standards and procedures
* Understanding of and hands-on experience with automated testing tools

Duties & Responsibilities

* Directs the activities of a commercial grade software quality assurance function supporting a large revenue base
* Leads the definition, implementation, and maintenance of standard QA processes and methodologies for automotive software products
* Directs the development and execution of software test plans and analysis of test results
* Drives the definition, preparation, and execution of testing strategies including Functional, System Integration (end-to-end), Performance and User Acceptance test phases according to the defined QA processes
* Drives end-to-end automation in the product development quality life cycle
* Conducts testing "post-mortems" to define and document lessons learned and translate them into future improvements
* Experience managing geographically distributed Quality Assurance organization including offshore
* Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel ensuring effective operation of the function and team
* Manages career paths by coaching and mentoring direct and indirect reports
* Holds associates accountable for their work by setting expectations, achieving commitments, providing feedback, and evaluating effectiveness
* Effectively communicates with direct manager and upper management, and synthesizes relevant information on key milestones, success criteria and risks
* Escalates critical issues to senior leadership appropriately
* Develops best practices and champions them within the organization

Technical Requirements

* Experience working with Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Working knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks - (selenium,jasmine, Moca)
* Minimum of 15 years' experience in a related field
* Significant leadership experience required

Education

* Masters degree in computer science preferred. Bachelors degree required
