Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) seeks an experienced Threat Detection Engineer (TDE) to support our Sensors & Missile Systems business. The TDE should be a well-rounded team member who is able to work on responsible tasks with minimal supervision. The TDE must also be able to work on a range of duties throughout the product life cycle, i.e., concept, design, integration, system test/verification, system troubleshooting, and performance evaluation.

The SMS business is primarily located in Totowa, NJ.

Responsibilities

* Develop software/algorithmic solutions for complex threat detection scenarios based upon customer requirements and SMS technology.
* Communicate effectively with the engineering, business development and advanced projects teams regarding ongoing challenges, solutions and capabilities
* Support all aspects of SMS threat detection systems demonstrations, trials, and tests
* Troubleshoot in real time possible software bugs
* Provide operational support to fielded systems
* Liaise with integrators, suppliers, and customers as directed by SMS Staff Engineer.
* Support product spiral developments and sensor sustainment operations with operational customers
* Integration and testing of newly developed software in threat detection sensor systems, including fault diagnosis; monitoring and analysis
* Collect, analyze and interpret experimental data, including the application of statistical techniques
* Detection and classification algorithm development
* Noise reduction
* Signature matching and dynamic classification
* Machine learning
* Design signal filter modules
* Data acquisition systems design
* Signal processing analysis software development
* Hardware and electrical design and fabrication
* Circuit design and PCB layout
* Stay up to date with the latest advancements in relevant sensor fusion and computer vision techniques
* Keep stringent files on software versions in accordance with company standards
* Participate in preparation of system documentation and customer training
* Perform as an integral member of the SMS team interacting on a regular basis with inter/intra-company disciplines including engineering, contracts, programs management, manufacturing and customer service
* Provide technical support and expertise on proposals and bid efforts
* Some domestic and international travel to support the SMS business

* Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures

Qualifications

* US Citizenship required. Secret Clearance preferred or minimum ability to obtain such required.
* Master's degree in engineering or equivalent technology field.
* The successful candidate will have at least 10 years military operational experience using electro-optical imaging systems in both mounted and dismounted operations.
* Experience in working with / or established relationships with PM/ PEO customer and Army labs. Specific to vehicle platforms a plus.
* Excellent organizational skills and work ethic.
* Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
* Ability to work in a team environment and interact with employees in all departments and functions.
* Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and sales tracking systems.
* Travel up to 50%+ of time.
