Job Description

Description

Area 1 Security is looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join our growing automation team. We stop phishing attacks - 24/7 - for some of the largest organizations in the world, and need your help in building the most effective anti-phishing service imaginable.

The key skills we value are programming ability, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. Ideally you've worked with a variety of frameworks and automation tools, are well-versed with gripes about them but more importantly know the key work-arounds for those issues. You care about how systems work and proving they do work. You care deeply about the experience of your users. And let's be honest with each other: you get a little kick out of breaking things! If you value being a contributor on a great team, please reach out! We would love to talk to you and learn more.

Responsibilities:

* You own the test automation for a key group of services that fit within our overall deployment, and designing tests that exercise individual services as well as integrations across them. You introduce meaningful scenarios that help answer the question of "is this a good change?" and have our entire team benefit from them running, on every Pull Request. You work with other engineers on designing this system, contribute test and application code to solve problems, and advise others on adding coverage to new changes.

Requirements:

* At least one year working in test automation (can be a combination of internships and FTE).
* Understand how web traffic works - how your browser makes requests, where do they go, what happens when they come back.
* Fluency programming in at least one language (ideally comfortable with python); bonus points if you know two, and doubly so if one is javascript.
* Deep user knowledge about a specific test automation framework such as PyTest or Selenium or even something in-house - know its ins and outs and can explain details of how it works.
* Familiarity with automated UI testing.
* Comfort with git and at least one common CI system.
* Strong communication skills (good writing, documenting, presenting).
* Know what tests bring value, how to write good test cases, how to explain your tests, how to teach your team to more effectively leverage tests and why they're important.

Area 1 Security is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity. All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
