Who We Are:

Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 17,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Technology Support Technician is directly responsible to the Systems Manager and indirectly responsible to the Manager of Network Services and to the Executive Director of Information Technology Services.

Responsibilities: General Duties:

* To perform the assigned building level technology maintenance and installation necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the technology program for assigned school sites(s,
* To act as a liaison between the public and the school system and in so doing, promote the positive image of the total school system.
* To promote educational enterprise through service to teachers, students, public and administrators.

Specific Duties:

* To maintain hardware in your assigned school facilities or deliver to district repair shop, if equipment cannot be repaired on site.
* Submit completed work request forms for equipment history database.
* Schedule distribution and installation of computer equipment and software.
* Provide computer related assistance at locations as designated by the Systems/Support Manager and/or the Associate Superintendent of Information Technology Services.
* Assist school personnel in operating computer equipment and software including email/network access.
* Provide computer instruction to school personnel in the proper use of computer equipment and network access.
* Maintain an inventory of all computer equipment and software in the district.
* Recommend purchases of computer equipment and supplies to the Systems Manager, Manager of Network Services, and Executive Director of Information Technology Services.
* Be responsible for coordinating warehouse distribution software to the sites and classrooms.
* Prepare and/or update printed computer/software/network operation procedures.
* Initiate and answer correspondence dealing with the requests for computer department maintenance. Work with district head technicians, when issues require new parts or advance troubleshooting in repair shop.
* Perform all duties in the safest possible manner.
* Maintain and advance technical skill levels, stay current with new technology systems, maintenance of those systems and application being used in the district.
* Provide logistical and service support for any 1:1 student/device programs.
* Perform any other job related tasks as directed by the Systems Manager, Manager of Network Services and to the Executive Director of Information Technology Services.
* Travel between school sites across the district.
* Provide technical support to audio visual equipment, projectors, and sound systems.

Qualifications:

* High school diploma.
* Apple and or A+ Certified mandatory (must be able to provide Comptia A+ Certificate of completion).
* Prefer two years of experience in the field.
* Prefer Windows 2008/2010 and/or Apple OS X network experience or equivalent Net+ certification.
* Audio visual experience.

Salary: Class CT/12 months
