Job Description

Technical Support Engineer Dynamic Network Factory a high end storage manufacturing company has openings for a tech support/ system and storage administration. You will provide technical support to customers who are working to implement new storage solutions / Server and solve other storage network related issues including test and repair storage devices such as SAN, NAS and DAS at our headquarter facility in Hayward.

Job Description:

* Respond to customer inquiries, primarily by telephone and e-mail
* Resolve customer technical issues through diligent research, reproduction, and troubleshooting
* Work directly with other technical support staff, quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and administration to resolve problems
* Document all technical inquiries, develop and review content for knowledgebase
* Requirements:
* Experience with File System Architecture (FAT, EXT2/3, UFS)
* Excellent knowledge of Operating Systems including (Windows 2000, 2003, XP / Linux, Unix Solaris or FreeBSD)
* Good understanding of Server PC Architecture
* Good working knowledge of Networking
* Experience working within an Enterprise IT Support environment
* Experience trouble-shooting / administrating SAN environments (Fiber Channel or iSCSI)
* Excellent understanding of Network Attached Storage (NAS)
* Good working knowledge of NAS protocols (CIFS, SMB, NFS)
* Understanding of Storage Hardware Architecture (Partitioning / RAID)
* Experience configuring SAN Storage Arrays
* Experience with Microsoft Cluster Services (MSCS)
* Working knowledge of backup software (EMC Networker, Veritas Net Backup, Tivoli Storage Manager, Backup Exec)

Working knowledge of backup hardware:

* Tape and Disk
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Strong in spoken and written English
* B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or equivalent work experience

Highly Preferred Skills:

* Experience with data recovery

This position largely interacts with equivalent levels of internal personnel. That interaction requires good communication skills and customer service skills. Effectiveness in this role also requires functional knowledge of computer related products and components as well as assembly and test procedures. The job encounters recurring work situations of a non-routine nature where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; errors in work could cause delays in schedules. This position requires some travel to customer sites and working after hours and weekends.
