Comcast's Technology & Product organization works at the intersection of media and technology. Our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products that transform the customer experience. The team also develops and supports our evolving network architecture, including next-generation consumer systems and technologies, infrastructure and engineering, network integration and management tools, and technical standards.

Summary

Responsible for contributing to the team's algorithm, architectures, and new technology development related to DOCSIS 3.1, HFC, RF and optical networks. Evaluates individual solution components working as part of larger team. Develops and tests prototypes and new products and applications collaboratively supporting broadband network and operations. Contributes to the initial design and implementation of products and applications. Analyzes and evaluates solutions both internally generated as well as third party supplied.

Interfaces effectively with their peers. Develops novel ways to solve problems and discover new products, working on a portion of the problem and collaborating with more senior researchers as needed. Works independently with limited supervision and general instructions for assigned tasks.

Core Responsibilities:


* Develops specifications, technical requirements, and algorithms for future products and applications.
* Identifies complex problems and develops algorithms to solve them, including building and testing prototypes to demonstrate functionality and transitioning algorithms to the Engineering team to put into production.
* Designs prototypes and assists with conducting studies to support product or application development.


* Contributes to the development of testing and evaluates solutions presented to the Company by various internal and external partners and vendors. Contributes to case studies, testing and reporting.
* Organizes and maintains resources. Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, confluence pages, white papers, presentations, test results, technical manuals, formal recommendations and reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to the role.

Education Level:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree

Field of Study

Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar

Years of Experience:


* Generally requires 2-5 years related experience.
* Educational background in communication systems, RF and optical technologies including subjects such as power, propagation, capacity, modulation, error correction, traffic, latency, and Internet and communication protocols.
* Proficient in Broadband RF, optical, or wireless network architectures
* Laboratory test and measurement experience in areas such as RF, optical, traffic generation, spectrum and time domain signals analysis.
* Specific experience and knowledge with HFC, DOCSIS, or OFDM wireless systems is desirable
* Experience with software development process, architecture, APIs, and data models is desirable. Software Development and system modeling is a plus, but not required.
