Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities: Manage team of up to 8 individuals with responsibility for hiring, firing, reviews and promotions. Develop career paths for team members by identifying areas of growth via training opportunities and weekly one-on-one meetings. Plan projects and assign tasks across team members Work with peers across DBA, DevOps, Systems and Development teams to establish priorities, resolve conflicts and balance urgent versus important Install, configure, monitor and maintain databases in the production, development, and quality assurance environments. Recommend and implement solutions for SQL performance monitoring, tuning and automation. Understand SAN based storage and related technologies, specifically as applicable and useful to MS SQL Server installations. Work with Operations team planning server hardware, storage and OS configuration upgrades to help get the most out of SQL Server for specific application requirements and performance metrics. Process database change requests, including the creation and modification of databases, tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, jobs, etc. in accordance with change control policies. Analyze problems, anticipate future problem areas and implement solutions. Work outside of normal business hours as required for completing projects, working on deployments and resolving system outages. To be placed on on-call rotation for a week every 3 months and respond to system alerts Requirements: 8 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 / 2014 / 2016 / 2017 supporting high traffic websites. Experience with leading large projects that requires working with many different teams Experience with Project Management and leading team Experience with Database Architect Experience with the implementation and support of database replication. Experience working with very large databases. Experience with SQL Server High Availability Architecture (AlwaysOn) Understanding of Windows Server (2012 R2/ 2016) configuration and management, specifically as it relates to MS SQL Server installations and mission critical systems. Excellent understanding of coding with Microsoft T-SQL and stored procedures. Experience with adhering and implementing best practices within an enterprise environment that include using source control for all database related artifacts (including jobs, SSIS packages and replication configuration) and following a change request/notification policy. Experience with SANs (3PAR/EMC/Pure), specifically with aspects related to MS SQL Server. Understands and is able to properly implement backup and disaster recovery procedures. Experience with CommVault Backup software and monitoring and alerting systems like PRTG Excellent work ethic and willingness to put in significant extra time as needed. Experience with PowerShell scripting, TFS/Visual Studio Database Projects and SSDT is a plus. Bachelor's degree required. Relevant equal work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
