Technical Manager, Business Intelligence Administration

Your Role on our Team

The Business Intelligence and Data Management team of 1800Flowers.com has an exciting opportunity to join an established team focusing on Enterprise Analytics and Data Management initiatives for the enterprise. The BI Administrator serves as liaison between the BI Developers, Business Users and Enterprise Infrastructure teams to ensure appropriate delivery of technology solutions. This includes capabilities such as day to day user support, training and consultation on BI programming, performance tuning, capacity and utilization, backups and disaster recovery.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Work closely with senior management for planning and delivery of all BI functionality for the enterprise.
* Provide technical consultation for Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Application Developers on the programming and design of BI products.
* Be a primary contact for the vendor on all product related activities, including problem resolution and product implementation.
* Provide Setup, Configuration, Installation and Administration of all BI products:
* Serve as an On-Site BI Administrator who will assist the customer to maximize the value of all BI technologies and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction
* Serve as the go-to subject matter expert all day-to-day problems involving the BI servers, including performance, tuning, troubleshooting, gathering and interpretation of diagnostics, and decisions about configuration.
* Coordinate installation of upgrades, patches, enhancements, and changes to all BI software.
* Provide Application Management for the following:
* Provide guidance to others on best practices and standards for the BI Platform
* Organize and host internal user meetings for education and networking
* Provide Data Management for the following:
* Support all BI-server-hosted data and define and administer security to control access to additional data technologies. (SQL Server, Netezza, Oracle, Cloud, etc.).
* Provide documentation, code samples, best practices for accessing data, including database connectivity options and SQL Coding techniques for efficient database access.
* Provide monitoring of the BI environment
* Develop processes to track who is using the BI servers, when, and with what impact on CPU and memory resources
* Develop notifications and alerts to notify users whenever their BI process have consumed a threshold amount of CPU time and with follow-up with recommendations for reducing consumption.

Qualifications and Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
* Must be passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience and demonstrate an ability to solve business and technical challenges with the customer in mind
* Strong speaking and presentation skills are required to communicate ideas and proposals to technical and non-technical audiences (e.g., white boarding, group presentations)
* Strong problem-solving skills and experience performing cause and effect analysis
* Must be well-organized and able to balance work on multiple concurrent projects and support issues in an Agile development environment
* Must be available to participate in an on-call support rotation in a 7x24x365 environment
* Experience installing, patching and upgrading server and client software is desirable.
* A general understanding of networking is required (e.g., process communication, sockets/ports, load balancers)
* Experience working with data warehouse systems (such as Snowflake or Netezza)
* Experience working with reporting and data analysis software is required
* Working knowledge of Unix/Linux
* Experience administering Tableau is desirable
* Experience programming with Scala, R and/or Python a plus
* Must have proficiency with SQL and a working knowledge of relational database management systems
* Minimum of 3 year of experience with a scripting language (e.g., MS-DOS, PowerShell, Unix shell)
* Experience in SAS coding desirable
* Experience working with an enterprise job scheduler desirable
* SAS Certified Platform Administrator a plus
* SAS Certified Base/Advanced Programmer a plus
