Position Summary

The Technical Lead / Staff embedded Software Engineer will be an integral part of our Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) Software Development Team. Responsible for driving technology and completion of activity on time and budget. Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems. Ability to complete a technical project independently and mentor and coach other engineers. Ability to lead major problem resolution efforts and support regaining or attaining customer partner status. Be a lead member of the new business capture team.

Basic Qualifications and Required Skills

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering technical field with a minimum of 10+ years of experience Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge
* Expected to have knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplines
* 8+ years of real time embedded SW design experience
* Demonstrate experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), and have experience in bare-metal implementation for embedded system
* Proficient in developing software using C, C++ and C#
* Ability to lead a team and be responsible for the team weekly work schedule
* Experience working with CMMI level 3 or higher organizations, processes, and documentation
* 5+ years of Integrated Product Team leadership with emphasis on work planning, scheduling and tracking progress
* Has experience in developing software requirements and software designs based on system requirements and system design
* Proficient with Microsoft Office, including MS PowerPoint, MS Word and MS Excel
* Motivated, self-starter individual
* Experience in mentoring and leading junior engineers and assigning work loads

Desired Skills

* Experience with embedded device drivers (TCP/IP, UART, I2C, PCIe, etc.)
* Experience in initial hardware start-up and troubleshooting techniques
* Capable of integrating hardware and software and developing test plans and procedures
* Experience in requirements analysis and allocations using DOORs or equivalent
* Experience with embedded Linux, VxWorks, and video streaming protocols
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with high level of accuracy
* Leads by example and fosters ethical behavior within the team
* Strong analytical and communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities

* Responsible for driving technology and completion of activity on time and budget
* Ability to analyze system, customer and regulatory requirements to create high level and low level requirements.
* Coordination between design engineering and internal and external customers
* Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems
* Ability to complete a technical project independently and mentor and coach other engineers
* Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
* Ability to lead major problem resolution efforts
* Be a lead member of the new business capture team
* Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
* Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
* Analyze designs as necessary. Responsible for higher level product line architecture, and providing guidance and oversight to multiple development teams working on different products or technologies to ensure the technologies interoperate or connect to each other appropriately
* Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
* Actively support pursuit of new business by developing and presenting new concepts, technologies or applications as part of Business Development and Program Management team.
* Develop trusted engineering contacts with the customer. Become a part of the customer's design team, looking out for their best interests
* Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
* Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
* Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
* Provides technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
* Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress
* Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
