Tech Services Principal - Connect Services Platform Technology

Location: Belgium // Hungary // Brazil // Netherlands // Singapore

What you'll be doing

* Maintains a 1, 2 and 3 year strategic portfolio roadmap drawing upon the customer's business drivers, key industry trends and BT's product portfolio, actively contributing to MU investment strategy and technology plan
* Manages matrix of all BT design resources aligned to individual portfolios deployed across multiple customer accounts.
* Provides expertise and consultancy for technical issues and approach across all GS and Enterprise verticals globally.
* Drives efficiency and scalability through the re-use of network designs and automation
* Proactively simplifies and enhances the architecture to improve CX
* Provides leadership and input from the customer facing design teams into MU and 3rd party/vendor strategy, directly influencing key market analysis (e.g. Ovum/Gartner
* Proposes technical strategy to network platforms and/or customer solutions factoring in high impact and high risk
* Manages technical risk for major platforms
* Holds design governance across all BT internal providers, strategic partners and suppliers
* Ensures design targets and objectives are met
* Supports Service Ops with BAU resolutions, serving as 4th of defence when needed
* Defines design best practice across key verticals, pulling on robust industry knowledge
* Uses design tool expertise to contribute to the ongoing development of BT's design toolset
* Understands, handles and escalates the inherent risks owned by the team
* Drives global team to meet service schedules and budget requirements
* Ensures that knowledge of end to end architecture and solutions/integration is embedded across Technical Hubs and in-life Technical Resolver teams
* Defines design best practice across key verticals, pulling on robust industry knowledge
* Uses design tool expertise to contribute to the ongoing development of BT's design toolset
* Understands, handles and escalates the inherent risks owned by the team
* Drives global team to meet service schedules and budget requirements

Key Decisions:

* Decides on network models and investment approach for design testing
* Decides on the design scope to leading edge high impact and high risk network platforms and/or customer solutions
* Decides on approach to resolving customer affected issues to leading edge high impact and high risk network platforms and/or customer solutions
* Decide on implementation approaches of tech related transformation activity
* Decides on network models and investment approach for design testing

We'll also need to see these on your CV

* Engineering / Science degree
* Technical - Strong understanding of Virtual Services and Orchestration with platforms such as NSO. Practical experience of VNFs and Service chaining in platforms such as Cisco ENCS, at a delivery and/or proof of concept level. Appreciation of future technologies beyond virtual services and SDN required.
* Design Standards - Proven expertise and consultancy for technical issues and approach across all GS and Enterprise verticals globally. Including repeatability, technical architecture and standards, and design quality.
* Strategy - Provides leadership and input from the customer facing design teams into MU and 3rd party/vendor strategy, directly influencing key market analysis (e.g. Ovum/Gartner) as well as actively contributing to MU investment strategy and technology plan. Will look to develop and maintain a 1, 2 and 3 year strategic portfolio roadmap in partnership with the Digital Infrastructure teams.
* Leadership - Managing a high performance team of global experts (10-15) and depending on demand up to ~2 sub-teams focussing on specific technologies. Focus to be mentoring, strategic direction, business transformation, and design standards. Accountability for strength and depth of skills across global team to support the three key GS verticals as well as Enterprise major contracts.
* Partnerships - Develops and maintains strong links across industry including key customer contacts typically at CIO level, market analysis, key technology vendors both current and future, and further education institutions.
