Tech Lead, Software Engineer-Tech College

We are creating something unique and unprecedented: a re-imagined hub for technology training called Tech College. This is a bold investment in developing our associates and leaders, recruiting top technical and non-technical talent, and continuing to differentiate ourselves in the market.

As a Tech Lead, you'll be part hands on, contributing to the code base, and part leader, contributing to the growth of junior engineers. You are passionate about software craftsmanship and staying up to date with industry trends. You lead by example.

You will use your in-depth knowledge of architecture, infrastructure, application development, and software development methodologies to own and drive an agenda that enables Capital One associates and executives to develop Software Engineering skills from basic to mastery levels. You would be leading a team of highly skilled software engineers building API's, aesthetically pleasing and accessible UI's, following a "You Build it, You Own it" delivery model.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or military experience
* At least 5 years of experience in object oriented software engineering, and application design, and application development
* At least 5 years of experience with software delivery as part of an engineering team to include version control, code reviews, and release management
* At least 5 years of experience with building and consuming API's

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in Computer Science, or Engineering, or Information Technology
* 6+ years of experience in software engineering
* 1+ years of experience with cloud computing tools or certification with AWS or GCP or Azure
* 1+ years of experience with CI/CD Best Practices and Automation
* 1+ years of experience with Data Warehouse and Analytics

Responsibilities:

* Methodically and empirically peer review code across the Tech College engineering teams
* Continually establish and adopt software craftsmanship best practices
* Assist with growing the team by mentoring and coaching
* Break down barriers for the developers through experience and ingenuity
