Position Summary

We are looking for a Product Design team leader to help build and lead our team. In this role, you will help us shape digital products for some of the world's most recognized brands while hiring, inspiring and mentoring a new generation of designers and interns. You will be placed in the thick of the action as you work side by side with some of the best minds in the business, and lead product design projects while deepening your knowledge of product and business strategy.

As a design leader, you will create products and experiences that delight our clients and their customers. A combination of leadership and hands-on design, you possess outstanding strategic expertise and digital product design skills. You will also help facilitate the design process, tools and learning opportunities that designers need to create products and experiences that drive enduring results.

Responsibilities

Lead Designers Across Multiple Workstreams

* Able to lead design workstreams from opportunity to implementation while overseeing other designers
* Collaborates with business colleagues to find elegant and practical solutions to design challenges
* Articulates design intent to other members of the team, and projects expertise and confidence to clients
* Presents design research findings and design progress confidently to senior management and team
* Shows strong verbal, written and visual presentation skills to communicate the value of design and brand within a design and business context
* Crafts high-quality designs and prototypes when needed
* Develops strong working relationships with the case leadership, all roles across the business, direct and extended client contacts
* Travels to work with teams and clients as needed

Helps Drive Growth of Design Labs

* Takes leadership role in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring and onboarding of designers and actively improves our design hiring process

Leads and Mentors Designers

* Manage day-to-day operations of their team, including setting priorities, staffing, and ensuring project goals are achieved
* Motivates and holds designers accountable to deliver their case objectives while providing inspiration
* Provides design reviews, PD and other growth opportunities
* Helps to design progression tracks for junior designers

Evangelizes Design Labs @Bain and with the broader Design Community

* Helps in developing the Design Lab community and is recognized as one of its emerging leaders
* Develops best practices for product design at Bain and shares learnings

Qualifications

Required

* Bachelor's (pref. Master's) Degree
* 6-8 years of experience designing product and shipping digital experiences across both web and mobile
* Proven ability to both mentor and develop core skills in product designers
* Experience leading and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment
* Comprehensive understanding of user-centered design process, methodology, technology and tools (personas, journey maps, information architecture, wireframes, visual design, advanced prototyping, etc.)

Preferred

* HCI or a related design or behavioral science discipline
* 2 years experience mentoring designers
* A current online portfolio with demonstrable foundation in typography, interaction and visual design
* Experience in both the consumer and enterprise space
