Are you an innovative engineer and looking for a challenging role that would afford you the opportunity to serve as a spacecraft bus lead in support the Space Vehicle Lead? Lockheed Martin (LM) is looking for an ambitious Systems Engineer looking to become a member of the Systems Design and Integration Team.

LM offers a line of LM50 vehicles that can host unique mission enabling technologies within small satellites and with a high mission assurance that's atypical for this class of satellites within the industry. This program resides within a business area that has an appetite for risk, which enables cutting edge technology development to meet emerging customer needs. With short concept to launch development schedules, you will join a team of high energy, passionate engineers with a fast-paced build-test-learn development cycle. As a Systems Engineer serving as the spacecraft bus lead, you will:

* Report to the Space Vehicle lead
* Manage subcontracts related to the development of a LM50 Small Sat bus platform, including management of components that span Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) hardware (such as star trackers and reaction wheels), avionics, structures, and the electrical power subsystems (EPS)
* Manage software interfaces between bus applications
* Serve as the Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) technical authority residing over the spacecraft bus
* Establish system architecture and CONOPS, perform system level design and decomposition into requirements
* Complete failure modes and effects analysis to inform the design for onboard automated responses to failures or ground intervention
* Perform system analysis and interface definition and management/ execution
* Lead studies and system trades for enhanced capabilities
* Perform systems/hardware integration, test planning and execution
* Lead and coordinate design reviews and technical product reviews
* Lead failure investigations and anomaly resolution boards
* Maintain system level budgets, such as mass and power, and report key technical performance metrics (TPMs) during major design reviews with the customer

Basic Qualifications:

* Active TS/SCI required.
* Knowledge and application of Systems Engineering processes and Systems Integration functions including:

A.) System trade studies and/or System modeling

B.) Requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development

C.) System Integration, Test and/or Verification

D.) Test planning and execution with an understanding of all the interdependencies

E.) Design reviews

* System design and test experience with one or more subsystems or disciplines outside of Systems Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Propulsion, RF, Software, etc.)

Desired Skills:

* 12+ years with spacecraft architecture design, development, integration, test, with broad based and in-depth knowledge of space, missile and launch systems at the component through system level
* Ability to absorb extensive technical detail and logically formulate solutions for execution on an inflexible schedule, often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, incomplete data
* Experience ensuring the physical and functional compatibility of hardware/software products throughout the full lifecycle of the program
* Missile or space segment design and test experience with one or more subsystems or disciplines outside of Systems Engineering
* Ability to interact with hardware and software developers to ensure mission requirements are satisfied
* Demonstrated ability to get results from teams without direct authority
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with strong presentation skills and capable of briefing audiences large or small of varying technical knowledge
* Proven track record of good judgment and programmatic execution necessary to meet technical requirements while balancing schedules and budget obligations
* Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and take on numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
* Master's Degree in Systems Engineering, INCOSE Certification, or relevant Graduate Certificate
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members, leadership, and customers
* Recognized as an authority in systems thinking techniques with the demonstrated ability to apply them to a wide range of complex problems and train others in their application
