Job Description

As the Copart IT Systems Engineering Manager, you should have a strong Systems Engineering background as well as familiarity with DevOps technologies and methods. You must be able to lead and mentor your team to resolve incidents, provide next-gen solutions, automate workflows, and identify potential issues through proactive and behavioral based monitoring. You must be a thought leader with an ambition to innovate and contribute to the success of our global application platform.

A successful candidate will provide leadership in the thought of new ideas from design and development through execution. You must be a hands-on leader that will mentor the team and provide career growth and guidance. You will collaborate with other organizational domains to provide solutions that are highly scalable and will meet our operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

* Hiring, growing, and maintaining a team of globally diverse engineers responsible for managing all aspects of mission-critical systems that include: Physical Servers, Virtualization, Storage, Server OSes (Linux, Windows)


* Provide guidance on globally redundant datacenter infrastructure as well as Cloud presence.


* Drive automated processes and service improvements to improve day-to-day operational efficiency


* Develop and maintain a culture of innovation, growth, and operational efficiency in the team.


* Operational familiarity with technologies such as Kubernetes, Spinnaker, CDN, APM, Puppet, Jenkins, and StackStorm.


* Participate in incident management to resolve outages. Analyze incidents during RCA calls to eliminate repetitive issues.



Systems

* Strong engineering experience with deploying, managing, and troubleshooting services such as:


* VMWare, XenServer, HyperV


* Storage Platforms (Fiber Channel, NAS, Object-Based, Ceph, Swiftstack)


* In-depth understanding of Server OSes (Linux, Windows Server)


* Monitoring platforms and APM (Nagios, PRTG, Prometheus, Instana, etc)


* Scripting experience (Bash, Perl, Python, Powershell)


* Server Hardware maintenance and troubleshooting (HP, Cisco, Dell)


* Authentication platforms (SSO, MFA, LDAP)


* Cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)



Networking

* Understanding of networking fundamentals to facilitate partnership with Network Engineering


* IP Subnetting and VLANs


* Traffic engineering


* Cloud connectivity design



Security

* Experience with adhering to security best practices


* Ability to partner with IT Security teams to quickly address and prevent security incidents



Interpersonal

* Strong communication, presentation, and solid project management skills


* Experience engaging and influencing senior leaders as well as partner domains using verbal and written communication tools

Required Experience:

* At least 7 years of relevant recent IT experience


* At least 2 years of experiencing leading a technical team


* 2 Years of experience implementing IT solutions and Project Management Skills


* Experience in a multi-location (Global and Nationwide) fast-paced environment
