Summary: Responsible for supporting, securing, and monitoring all administrative functions necessary for the efficient operation and supporting the Wintel server environment.

* Works with department-based Microsoft Windows Server support staff in performing tasks such as gathering hardware requirements per the needs specified by vendors and/or business unit , adjusting disk space restrictions, maintaining the necessary accounts for users, and setting up and/or assisting in upgrading existing servers.
* Provides support to the EIS Help Desk to resolve user problems related to the effective operation of the Windows LANs, WANs, and servers.
* Assists with root cause analysis processes.
* Provides technical guidance to lower-level staff.

Responsibilities:

* Troubleshoots more complex aspects of the Windows Operating System
* Responsible for 2nd Level incident response
* Performs Operating system builds using EIS standards and practices
* Maintains window server systems in a clinical organization; documents processes and procedures relative to EIS standards and practicesInstalls, configures, and manages/troubleshoots MS clustering services.
* Responsible for system troubleshooting of complex issues relative to the EIS Windows server environment
* Develops system requirements from vendor and/or physicians. Architect/Design and build a Windows server solution with minimal supervision
* Defines and improves operating systems and core component standards (i.e., MS IIS, .Net framework and MS Failover Clustering Services)
* Utilizes Change Control process when scheduling maintenance of production server systems within EIS Windows server environment
* Maintains system inventory through centralized management database system (CMDB)
* Decommissions older server systems and hardware, and assists with upgrade processes
* Performs root cause analysis in post system-failure situations
* Performs Windows security/critical update patching per EIS standards
* Develops and maintains patching automation systems (SCCM, SCORCH)
* Development of automation scripts via Powershell

Educational Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering; equivalent combination of education and work experience is acceptable.
* Five (5) years of experience in server administration of Windows Server systems in a business environment.

License/Certification Requirements:

None

Experience:

* Experience in supporting daily operations of Windows servers, communications software/hardware including faxing, and Virtual environments (VMware).
* Prefer expertise with Microsoft Windows Server systems
* Working knowledge of network equipment, configurations and software to include: backup, restores, TCP/IP protocols, utilities, raid disks, virus protection software, threat management, patch management and server hardware.
* Working knowledge of Windows Server Systems i.e.: N-2, N-1 and N versioning, Standard, Enterprise Editions and Core components in an Enterprise environment.
* Working knowledge of monitoring platforms such as SCOM (Systems Center Operations Manager) relative Windows Server Systems
* Able to provide proof of concept utilizing department standards as defined by Cedars-Sinai's Enterprise Information Systems group
* Able to interface with third-party vendors for supported applications.
* Able to assess risks when making changes to current production environment.
* Able to troubleshoot Windows server systems
* Able to mentor lower-level staff
* Able to take initiative when new technologies are presented to EIS Windows server environment.
* Provides complex analysis, diagnostics, and resolution to system faults in the server environment.
* Able to support third-party when needed.
* Able to participate in architecting and documenting solutions within a Window Server environment involving cross team engagement.
* Able to participate on on-call rotations on a weekly basis
* Prefer 1 out of the following 2: MCITP Enterprise Administrator or MCITP Server Administrator certification
* Experienced SCCM (Systems Center Configuration Management) / SCORCH (Systems Center Orchestrator) administration skills required.
* Advanced level of experience scripting with PowerShell
