Position Description

The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems related to Windows, virtualization, Active Directory.

In this role, you will be a member of the Server team providing support and serve as a resource for projects to achieve the organizational goals of IT. You will work on a team of server and systems experts on initiatives that will empower our client to advance their applications, infrastructure, and data technology strategy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Providing support for Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Microsoft Office 365, CommVault, Cisco and HP Server hardware, VMware, Citrix, SAN, SCCM, and Active Directory


* Deploying and supporting Microsoft Windows Server platforms consisting of both virtual (VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V) and physical servers


* Resolving escalated tickets and providing after-hours (rotational) support as needed for problem analysis and resolution


* Maintaining and communicating project plan and status updates proactively


* Performing a series of regularly scheduled maintenance activities during approved maintenance windows


* Documenting Standard Operating Procedures for the team to follow


* Deploying security updates and patches


* Completing other projects and duties as assigned



This role will be 100% remote; however, due to client location(s) preference will be given to candidates based in Mid-West US, East Coast US and Ontario, Canada.

Must Have Skills:

* Minimum 5+ yrs technical experience with system installations and administration in a predominantly Windows Environment


* Advanced working knowledge and experience of Windows Hyper-V and VMWARE


* Advanced working knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory


* Skilled with the basics of TCP/IP networking


* Exposure to SAN/NAS technologies and administration


* Experience using proactive software and hardware monitoring solutions


* Advanced troubleshooting skills to drive to root cause


* Previous experience supporting backup software and recovery strategies


* Extremely motivated with a strong desire to deliver exceptional results in an exciting and rising company


* Candidate should be accustomed with the concepts of "Ownership", "Duty to Communicate" and "Accountability"


* Ability to see the "big picture" and scope requirements to the organization's direction


* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent industry experience



Preferred Skills:

* Professional certifications with the following vendors: Microsoft MSCE, VMWare and CommVault
* Advanced with PowerShell scripting experience
* Exposure to Pure Storage SAN
* Previous experience in a fast pace brokerage or trading firm
* Exposure to Cisco UCS, vRealize, and vCenter Orchestrator
* Experience utilizing Microsoft System Center Suite
