THE ROLE:
The Systems Engineer will be part of the Corporate IT group, responsible for coordinating the construction, maintenance, and expansion of an organization's computer systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
* Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
* Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
* Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
* Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
* Provide IT support prioritizing, responding and closing support requests
* Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
* Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
* Ensure all new employees are set up properly and are assisted with the on-boarding process, including application of user licenses
REQUIREMENTS:
Patient, courteous, and friendly customer service attitude: a great people person
Skilled at demonstrating and explaining technology to the non-technical
Meticulously thorough, detail-oriented, organized work habits
Amazing troubleshooting skills and the ability to find the root cause behind any issue
Perceptive of needs for hardware, software, and other tools to improve users' experience
Proven working experience in OSX, Windows, and UNIX /Linux based environments
Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
Experience with Atlassian applications - Jira and Confluence
Solid Cloud experience in AWS and GCP
Experience with current technologies and equipment (e.g., printers, monitors, peripherals)
Experience with IT purchasing and vendor relationships
Knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools and virtualization
Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems
Knowledge of Git or other version control
Scripting skills (e.g., JavaScript, Java, Ruby, Python) a plus.
