Job summary

The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Systems Engineer to work in the Products and Technologies (PnT), Developer Operations, and Systems Operations teams in Westford, MA, or Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work on a globally distributed team across Red Hat to deliver infrastructure and service monitoring. You'll implement service-level indicators (SLI) and service-level objectives (SLO) based on interactions with internal customers. You'll be part of the monitoring team tasked with designing and implementing monitoring standards across Red Hat's internal "customer zero" infrastructure that is used to build and release Red Hat's open source software. Primary job responsibilities

* Help champion the vision and standards for monitoring across team and infrastructure environments
* Create infrastructure monitoring of scale that provides health and uptime insights to the global operations team
* Maintain tooling and telemetry for operations teams to facilitate the balancing of their signal-to-noise ratios
* Collaborate with internal teams that provide supporting services to Red Hat's customers as a reference model
* Work as part of a geographically distributed team
* Work with upstream communities engaged with Red Hat in the creation of our solutions
* Work with stakeholders to ensure that our solutions meet their requirements
* Participate in monthly maintenance windows
* Participate in on-call rotation

Required skills

* 3+ years of experience maintaining Linux operating system installations, configurations, and upgrades
* Experience deploying and maintaining Zabbix servers and proxies
* Solid data warehousing skills
* Familiarity of Prometheus and Prometheus exporters
* Experience logging data to Splunk and ELK
* Solid verbal and written communication skills in English
* Ability to deploy services into Red Hat OpenShift
