We're looking to add a systems engineer who will use physics-based modeling and their technical experience to translate customer and business product requirements into vehicle and charging systems architectures. This person will create component specifications that allow the Lyft engineering team to develop hardware that realizes these these performance and functional requirements. They'll also serve as a technical interface between the hardware, design, manufacturing, product, finance and management teams in order to distill and effectively communicate highly technical information in actionable ways.

Responsibilities:

* Use multi-domain modeling and analysis to collaboratively create and drive the Lyft Bikes and Scooters hardware development roadmap.
* Collaborate tightly with the mechanical, electrical, firmware, industrial design, product, and QA teams to ensure efficient implementation of new features, components, and systems.
* Develop system requirements, distributes function and performance to components within systems, defines system hardware and software architecture and defines electrical and communication interfaces for components to meet those goals.
* Lead and contributes to design reviews for development efforts that span multiple components or domains.
* Create and executes validation plans for systems and components.
* Drive hardware architectures that allow Lyft to create the safest light electric vehicles designed for for sustainable cities.

Experience & Skills:

* BS, MSc or PhD in electrical, mechanical, physics or related engineering discipline
* 5+ years experience in Systems Engineering.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to generate and interpret simulation results and integrate recommendations into product designs
* Experienced in empirical validation and data correlation of models and systems
* A passion for creating products that will decouple the right to mobility from car ownership and fundamentally change how people move through cities
