Systems Engineer

Physical Optics Corporation, POC is a fast-growing Southern California high tech company specializing in advanced military defense, homeland security, and energy solutions. We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to join our Applied Technologies Division. The successful candidate will present a proven track record of successful contribution to designs, developments, prototyping, testing, and problem solving, and should be eager to work in a very dynamic, fast-paced research and development team

This position may be filled as a Systems Engineer and/or a Sr. Systems Engineer.

Requirements:

* 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in system level design for avionics or airborne sensors
* Strong experience in system modeling, performance analysis, integration, and test of avionics systems
* Experience in requirements management, establishing system architecture/design and requirement verification
* Experience in system tradeoffs studies (e.g., range resolution, field-of-view, size, weight, power, cost, manufacturability) and component selections
* Experience in working with interface/control, embedded computing solutions, microprocessors, prototyping, testing, validation, and/or troubleshooting
* Must have experience in transitioning prototype hardware to a real-time embedded solution and be capable of estimating system performance.
* Familiar with open systems architecture concepts

Education and Experience

* MS Degree or equivalent in Aerospace/Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field
* 3-5 years' experience in systems engineering and platform-level integration of flightworthy systems

Preferred Skills

* Knowledgeable of aerospace environmental requirements compliance, test/qualification, and transition to manufacturing
* Knowledge of DOORS, and/or other requirements management tools.
* Excellent communication skills - verbal and written - and experience in technical writing to produce documentation
