Job Description

SmithBucklin, a 100 percent employee-owned association management company, is looking for a hands-on Server Systems Specialist to join the Corporate Information Technology team in our Chicago office. The Server Systems Specialist maintains our Windows and Linux servers, as well as application servers running on them such as web servers, CMS platforms and database systems. As a key member of the Corporate Information Technology team, this individual will be responsible to upgrade existing servers and applications as well as provide level II support in troubleshooting issues. This individual works closely with the other members of the Corporate IT infrastructure team as well as developers and client managers.

What You Will Do

* Maintain Windows Server systems including ensuring that updates are installed as appropriate.
* Maintain Linux (Ubuntu) systems including applying updates, configuring LAMP stack components.
* Setup and maintain web sites in IIS for .NET, DNN and ColdFusion services, working closely with developers and other stakeholders.
* Setup and maintain Wordpress sites on Linux (Ubuntu), utilizing Docker containers.
* Setup and maintain databases in Microsoft SQL and MySQL, creating special backups and restoring versions as needed.
* Migrate web sites and associated databases between servers.
* Update configuration of servers and application software to enhance security and performance
* Troubleshoot issues with servers including access, DNS configuration and SSL certificates.

Basic Qualifications

* BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science (or related area) required.
* 3+ years of experience in technical user or developer support with practical experience administering both Windows Server and Linux systems.
* Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Microsoft IIS and Microsoft SQL Server.
* Hands-on software troubleshooting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with ColdFusion
* Experience in managing .Net Nuke platform
* Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
