We are looking for a Systems Designer to join the New World team at Amazon Game Studios, Orange County. New World is a Sandbox MMO set in an alternate version of the 17th Century. As a Systems Designer you'll be involved in designing, developing, and balancing various game systems, everything from crafting, to progression, building, or economy. You have knowledge of game design theory, tools pipelines, telemetry, and data analysis. We're looking for a gameplay focused designer that knows how to create fun and engaging experiences as well as elegant designs. You should have the expertise to create designs that are intuitive but deep, and the foresight to create designs that synergize with other systems in the game.

In this role you will…

* Work closely with the Game Director and design leads to design and implement game systems and features
* Write game design documents that communicate your vision to the rest of the team
* Prototype, implement, and balance systems to create entertaining gameplay experiences
* Map out system flow and understand how systems interact with each other
* Develop data structures and manage large amounts of data
* Author game entities in our world editor as necessary to support your systems
* Work with the UX, SFX, VFX, and tools teams to understand and resolve dependencies to ensure a fully featured implementation of your design
* Develop the necessary telemetry to gather data on your systems to validate function and further balance and tune them
