Job Description

Job DescriptionOur ideal candidate blends a solid background in engineering with the ability and desire to make a difference on program. While supporting large teams, we differentiate ourselves by seeking out challenges on program and providing unique solutions to the Prime Contractor and end customer. The candidate must have experience and knowledge with software engineering using object oriented methodologies to analyze and manipulate customer data sets. The candidate will work closely with systems engineers, integrators, testers, and customers to design, develop and support software applications throughout the development and maintenance life cycle. Independently plan and perform test assignments involving definition of test and verification requirements, plans and sequences relative to complex software and hardware subsystems and resolve identified conflicting issues. Participate in and direct as needed some or all of a complex test program which includes establishing methods and techniques, planning tests, develop test requirements, writing test procedures and reports, and conducts tests utilizing comprehensive knowledge of these complex subsystems. Participate in test readiness reviews, participate in design reviews, and conduct audits of test programs and facilities. Utilize a broad knowledge of precedents in test engineering and apply understanding of principles of related engineering and software technology to ensure test validity and integrity. Conduct tests, which include collaborating with others in establishing language, database, and computer simulation requirements and configuration management techniques. Required Skills-Candidates must have demonstrated excellent performance working at all levels of the test and integration process, starting with SW or HW component testing and completing in system level verification and validation activities. -Candidates should have hands-on experience working with systems, software, and hardware staff in developing and implementing test plans and procedures. -The ideal candidate would have experience with large-scale SW and HW program integration at the Prime contractor level, working with customer representatives to successfully complete these activities. -Must have cross IPT and cross engineering discipline experience and demonstrated performance in working across teams and functions to achieve results. -Experience with discrepancy reporting systems (ie ClearQuest, JIRA). -Familiarity with the entire software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, development, integration, verification and validation) -Experience working with requirements management tools/databases -Ability to perform subsystem test planning -Experience using automated software test tools and scripting (EggPlant, Jenkins, Rationale Test Suite, etc.) -Ability to test software in a Windows or Unix development environment -Experience preparing and presenting reports and briefings both oral and written -4+ years of experience in preparation and execution of test procedures -4+ years of experience working in cross function teams (systems, software, hardware, and test) -Experience with discrepancy reporting systems (ie ClearQuest, JIRA) -Willingness to travel (estimated at 20% or less) and work overtime as necessary -Familiarity with the entire software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, development, integration, verification and validation) Security Clearance: Top Secret/SCI Desired Skills-Experience with one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Ruby, shell) -Experience working in a UNIX/Linux environment -Experience with database interaction, knowledge of SQL -Experience in Requirements development, derivation and management -Experience with systems integration, verification and validation (IV&V) -Experience working with requirements management tools/databases -Experience conducting trade studies -Experience with CONOPS development -Experience working in a development or Satellite Operations environment -Experience with Ground Systems Operations -Experience with Planning, Scheduling and Orbit Operations -Knowledge of Command and Control, Ground Status basics Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related scientific discipline. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree. An advanced degree is preferred. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Normal office setting, therefore the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. Use of hands to operate computer equipment. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
