System Engineer / Requirements Analyst

Millennium Engineering and Integration Company (MEI) is seeking a System Engineering practitioner with Requirements Engineering experience for a full-time position supporting Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) at the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), a subordinate unit of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). SMC is headquartered at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) in El Segundo, CA. This work is at a location in El Segundo, CA.

* Work is tied directly to SE&I requirements development and management supporting OPIR and Environmental Monitoring Enterprise programs for the SMC Remote Sensing Directorate (SMC/RS).
* Tasks involve identifying, controlling, maintaining, and evolving an enterprise requirements baseline associated with AF Space enterprise external and inter-program levels and maintaining the requirements in the DOORS tool.
* Knowledge and experience needed includes space and ground systems engineering, system concepts of operations, requirements development, and requirements management activities.

Key Responsibilities

* Understanding of engineering principles involved in aerospace production as applied to design origination via requirements development
* Knowledge of requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and presentation
* Demonstrate configuration baseline development and implementation expertise
* Ensure all operational, enterprise, program, and interface requirements are documented and maintained in the DOORS database and flow to correct specifications and interfaces
* Identify unmatched/orphan DOORS requirements for Government resolution and verify that requirements traceability and verification requirements are met
* Support system technical baseline establishment and ensure changes to the approved program baseline are synchronized contractors technical baselines
* Collaborate with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Air Force.
* Demonstrate ability to operate independently and take the initiative to identify, own and solve customer problems; thrives in a team environment.

Education and Work Experience

Requires:

* Bachelors Degree in Science, Engineering, or Math. (Advanced Degree preferred.)
* 9+ years of relevant experience with space and ground segments of DoD, and other Government space programs
* Active TS/SCI clearance
* Experience with requirements database tools and generating products to support members of a system development team
* Superior interpersonal, written and communications skills; able to interface with a range of personalities, including many at very senior levels
* Strong organizational skills
* Local in-state travel between work sites
* Specific skills and experience using Rational DOORS

Desired:

* Experience as a DOORS administrator
* Experience working with Air Force/DoD customers in an acquisition environment
* Experience working with Space systems (especially at LAAFB/SMC), Environmental Monitoring systems (e.g., Weather), OPIR systems, and ground and space system acquisition
