The Opportunity | Systems Architect

Curtiss-Wright is seeking a Systems Architect with expertise in embedded computer design for deployed military applications that utilizes bus, board and system architectures as defined by VITA or other Open Architecture Standards. The Systems Architect will develop system level architectures based on various forms of customer input from simple need statements to detailed requirements documents. In addition to developing solutions, the Systems Architect will provide subject matter expertise (SME) to the engineering group to assist in technical decisions, review of design approach and input on root cause analysis. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be an infuencer in the business unit and the industry!

Your Challenge

* Define system level architectures for rugged computing systems that include FPGAs, Graphics processors, Latest Generation processors and high speed interconnect
* Understand customer needs for various applications such as Mission Computing, ISR Processing, Display Processing, Software Defined Radio, and Electronic Warfare.
* Interface with customers to derive the requirements, environment and operating concepts and provide a solution that meets technical and cost objectives
* Consult in troubleshooting activities within engineering
* Develop technical solutions for customer proposals
* Support project development through formal and informal reviews of design and test methodology
* Interface with Hardware and Software engineers to ensure that key system features function as expected
* Prepare and present internal and external technical design reviews

Your Expertise

* BS Software Engineering or BS Electrical Engineering
* 7-10 years of embedded computing architecture design expertise
* Knowledge of FPGA design for system interconnects such as Rocket I/O, Gen 3 PCIe, SATA, 40Gb Ethernet, Multiprocessor synchronization, IEEE-1588
* Knowledge of software virtualization solutions for large scale computing systems
* Design experience with serial communication protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, RS422, RS485, RS232, 10/100/Gigabit Ethernet, USB
* Solid understanding of the latest video graphics solutions
* Experience with Microsoft Office including Word Excel, PowerPoint and Project
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
* Strong attention to details, highly organized
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment
