Job Detail

The Data Architect supervises and establishes alignment among the enterprise architecture, the strategic IT plan and the strategic priorities of the business. Data is a key business asset and the Data Architect plays a leadership role in defining and driving the HAG data architecture strategy and roadmap. The Data Architect leads the definition and implementation of strategies, principles and standards for data modeling, data quality and metadata management including how data will be organized, stored, accessed and moved.

Responsibilities:

* Work as a hands on Supervisor for the Data Warehouse Architecture team, providing oversight, guidance, and mentoring of team members.
* Provide input and suggestions to Management including Development of long and short range plans, including Application Development Plans and Resource Development Plans, to achieve corporate systems development objectives in a timely and cost effective manner.
* Ensure supervision and monitoring of all Data Warehouse Architecture activity.
* Translate enterprise or business requirements into long-term information/data architecture solutions including conceptual, logical and physical models.
* Implements and promotes governance processes for information and metadata to ensure establishment of a common language and the ongoing accuracy, validity and reuse of metadata.
* Serves as point of escalation, review and approval of key issues, significant projects and decisions.
* Direct and hands on involvement in the following areas: assessments of data layer design for new projects, relational & dimensional data modeling, logical data modeling, data flow mapping and data modeling tools.
* Help establish and maintain systems development standards, procedures, and methodologies consistent with corporate and departmental objectives and policies. Includes SDM, IS Department Policies and SOX requirements. Ensure adherence to policies.

Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and ten or more years on the job experience using relevant technology and software


* Ability to provide leadership, clear direction, and mentoring to Architecture Team Members.


* Ability to delegate effectively.


* Ability to manage project scope and expectations effectively.


* Detailed understanding of information/data architecture.


* Experience in implementing data warehouses, operational data stores and data integration projects.


* Working knowledge of data architecture principles, terminology and data modeling techniques.


* Demonstrated ability to produce conceptual, logical and physical data models.


* Strong knowledge of data warehousing disciplines such as data access, ETL, data management, data modeling, metadata, performance management, data quality, schema development, data marts, data dictionary and business intelligence (BI) tools


* Strong knowledge of Oracle Database Technologies (v. 10g, 11i)


* Excellent meeting facilitation, organizational and communication skills


* Ability to interact well with all levels with the organization


* Excellent problem solving/analytical skills with a high level of accuracy


* Ability to work flexible hours as needed to complete projects
