Job Description

Providence St. Joseph Health is calling an Storage Engineer PSJH to our location in Renton WA, Seattle WA, Portland OR, Beaverton OR, Richland WA or Anaheim CA.

We are seeking an Storage Engineer PSJH to be responsible for managing, maintaining and supporting the Storage Manager environment including storage area networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS) and the supporting management software thereof. The Storage Engineer is also responsible for determining and analyzing customer's requirements and then working with the team to develop and implement solutions to meet these requirements. Overtime is expected to gain working knowledge and experience in all areas of Data Storage Team responsibility. Requires the ability to travel efficiently to all PSJH sites within scope of assignment. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes Providence mission, values, and philosophy. Serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.

Perform routine storage administration tasks following documented procedures, including but not limited to:

* Installation, configuration and administration of storage environment.
* Daily monitoring of storage array devices for heath issues
* Installation and configuration of servers (Unix, Windows, Linux)
* Provisioning of storage on two or more families of EMC TIER-1 and TIER-2, Pure, NetAPP and Isilon arrays
* Zoning and configuration on SAN switches
* Participate in on-call rotation and change management meetings.
* Provide initial troubleshooting on basic issues.
* Work with vendor's field service engineers on routine hardware maintenance.
* Provide performance monitoring and tuning.
* Implement projects with minimal supervision.
* Perform routine hardware maintenance with and without the support of Field Service Engineers as necessary.
* Document server configurations and internal procedures.
* Collaborate on project planning with other Server Engineers.
* Provide technical peer review and consulting services.
* Develop standard operating procedures.

Required qualifications for this position include:

* Bachelor's degree in Information Services, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent educ/experience.
* 3 years of progressive, relevant experience in Information Technology.
* 2 years of industry experience supporting a storage area network in a 24x7 environment.
* Intermediate knowledge of storage area network systems and concepts.
* User level knowledge of server operating systems (AIX, HP-UX, Windows and Linux).
* A combination of experience and education will be considered.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

* Strong experience with Isilon arrays strongly desired
* NetAPP experience preferred


* Strong communication skills
* Able to formulate plan and design
