Staff Software Engineer, Augmented Analytics

Tableau is democratizing the value of advanced analytics and data science with improved integration capabilities for data science tools and platforms. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Augmented Analytics team, you will be driving the architecture and technical vision of the external services platform that enables our customers to more easily integrate with R, Python and other third-party data science services. We are looking for engineers who love solving hard technical problems and are enthusiastic about making advanced analytics simple and more accessible for our customers. Prior experience with R/Python for data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning is preferred but not required.

What you'll be doing...

* Full stack development from application backend through business logic and UI for customer experience
* Collaborate with other Tableau thought leaders and drive towards designing and building end-to-end architecture roadmaps for data science integration platform with extensibility and maintainability in mind
* Take full ownership of the end-to-end quality of the code deployed to production
* Mentor others to help them develop their technical and leadership skills
* Collaborate across design, product management, and engineering to implement the best user experience possible
* Support leadership with prioritization and planning activities by providing technical insight into upcoming and ongoing releases

Who you are…

* Experienced. You have 10+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions for complex problems. You have solid development skills with C++ and Java, prior experience with Python is preferred.
* Highly Technical. You have the ability to quickly jump between different technologies and have a solid understanding of how to debug problems from the UI down to lower level systems. You have proven experience architecting and delivering scalable, secure, and performant solutions in cloud and on-premise environments
* Curious. You have a passion to continuously expand your areas of expertise, learning new ways to do things and understanding why things are the way they are.
* Relentlessly High Standards. You love building great products. You believe in automation and writing tests as a way of maintaining high quality in your code. You know how to engineer solutions that balance robustness, scalability and performance.
