The Job

The Post Production Sr. Systems Engineer will be part of the BEST NY and DC Bureau. Support teams that maintain and provide daily support for all critical front-end editorial and other creative content platforms. He or she will be the subject matter expert for support of daily operations of all systems used to create edited content, which may include daily video packages, desktop edited content, web productions, and produced long-form content. If additional escalation is needed, they will work as the interface for the local post production staff to resolve with support from the Tier 3 team or vendor as required, implement feature requests, and facilitate system upgrades as needed.

The Day-to-Day

* Be a "Subject Matter Expert" on all editing systems, plug-ins and supporting software by providing first hand support, training, and documentation to craft editors, desktop editors, and other support teams.
* Act as the support lead to key customers for maintenance needs, incident/problem management follow up, and daily operational considerations.
* Daily monitoring of the ticket queue and performing analysis of problems across multiple cities/groups to ensure common production issues are resolved.
* Perform deployments and installations of edit systems as needed to ensure industry standards and best practices by providing User feedback and input to Tier 3 Teams for implementation of new System Designs and software deployment.
* Management and documentation of systems configurations to ensure that all are operating at peak performance for local post production teams.
* Attend as Local Support Representative all weekly Vendor, Higher Level Support, and User Issues meetings to accurately track ongoing Incident and Problem tickets as well as gain feedback on the overall health of the system.
* Develop processes and procedures to deploy software and configurations into production environments with minimal downtime or impacts.
* Assist in enforcing the use of appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools to ensure normal operation and minimal downtime.

The Essentials

* 10 years of experience working in Post Production Support or Editing Operations.
* In depth knowledge of non-linear editing Systems (Adobe, Final Cut Pro, Avid) operation hardware and configuration (Plug-Ins/Software (Boris, Sapphire, After Effects, Cinema 4D).
* Experience with file-based workflow and supporting technologies such as MAM, transcoding software, codecs, wrappers and related specifications.
* Basic understanding of computer networking in a post-production environment
* Understand the tools and methods in calibrating an edit suite to ensure consistent results.
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Film and Video Production, or extensive in-field experience will be considered.
* Preferred Education, training, licensing, or certification (i.e., a PLUS not required) SBE, Avid, Adobe, Final Cut, After Effects, or File Based Workflows.
