SOLUTIONS ENGINEER
Principal responsibilities:
* Responsible for day-to-day technical support of multiple account managers within assigned sales team. Engage directly with customers to gather their requirements, identifying all possible customer applications pursuant to designing the applicable Tata Communications Solution.
* Design viable transport, voice and data network sales solutions for customer applications, including preparation of network topologies and technical specifications.
* Maintain a detailed understanding of the internal tools, systems and processes required to develop an approved technical proposal for clients
* Actively participate in the RFI/RFP process and development of the technical aspects of proposals in line with customer needs, liaising and qualifying with other colleagues as necessary. Present technical solutions to customers both formally and informally as required. Support the development of customer SLAs in conjunction with support teams.
* Interfaces with external carriers/technology vendors on detailed aspects of new designs as required
* Stay abreast of technical issues, options and advancements within the Telecom industry relevant to the Tata Communications services portfolio.
* Monitor and manage client relationships and status of ongoing engagements.
* Maintain up to date knowledge of Tata Communications Products & Services
* Travel when required within assigned region
Level Descriptor
Experience /Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in business, telecommunications, or engineering, or equivalent combination of applicable education and experience
* Technical certifications applicable to telecommunication industry preferred (e.g.,Cisco, Microsoft, Juniper, MEF)
* Minimum ten years sales engineering experience demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities
* Comprehensive knowledge of: - TDM, SONET, and Wavelength based technologies - Ethernet, IP, MPLS, and Storage technologies - Routing, switching, security, and CoS/QoS technologies
* Knowledge and working experience in SDN, SD-WAN and NFV
* Working experience with Unified Communications portfolio - UCaaS, SIP and Contact Center
* Engage and partner with clients at a detailed technical level for development of specific Tata Communications solutions
* Deliver consulting design and project engineering services for Tata
* Communications products & services
* Develop level of credibility that positions incumbent as technical expert to the client
* Creativity, flexibility, and openness to alternative technical and commercial approaches
* Ability to develop and articulate complex technical issues/solutions in a clear and concise manner
* Good understanding of International Enterprise and/or Carrier telecom markets
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent inter personal skills
Management Responsibility:
* Provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to new and existing staff
* Manage a project-specific technical team. No reporting employees
