Sr. Software Engineer- Golang

We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our team in Redwood City, to work towards enabling secure and private access to the world's information, to billions of people around the world. We are looking for an engineer who comes from a background of designing, developing and maintaining large scale, highly available, geo distributed systems. Someone who is passionate about performance, is well versed in Linux networking internals, keeps security in mind and has a good understanding of web applications and micro services.

The candidate will be involved in projects requiring large-scale system design, data analysis and developing innovative solutions to problems of scale. We need our engineers to have strong analytical skills, an enthusiasm for taking ownership and problem solving. Your job will be to work on enabling access in blocked countries and provide freedom of information and expression to the millions of people around the world.

Responsibilities:

* Work on next generation anti-blocking technologies.
* Lead designs of major software components, systems and features.
* Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software and services.
* Identify and keep track of key performance indicators of product quality.
* Work with client teams, product teams and data analysts to develop features and improve product quality.
* Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.

Minimum qualifications:

* Bachelor/Masters degree in engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Experience architecting and developing large scale design.
* Experience in developing software in one or more programming languages such as Golang, C++, Python
* In depth understanding of Linux networking.
* Understanding of DNS, HTTP/HTTPS protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Well versed in at least one scripting language (python, shell etc.)
* Hands on experience with performance tuning on Linux.
* Interest in learning other programming languages and experimenting with cutting edge technologies
* Understanding of VPN and various VPN protocols (SSH, IPSec, openvpn).
