Primary Objectives

Thomson Reuters is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer for Tax Professionals - CheckPoint Learning Digital Experience development. The ideal candidate will have broad experience as a full-stack developer assisting with both front-end and backend web development. This position will require working closely with architects, product stakeholders and other teams. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for software development and well versed with agile development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

* Take responsibility for helping to build and ship high quality software
* Work independently with little supervision and have excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
* Assist in the identification and implementation of short-term and long-term solution options, and make recommendations to business and technology leadership
* Have the capability to work independently, taking ownership of problems
* Help mentor and coach junior team members to promote Engineering Excellence
* In conjunction with team architects and business analysts, transform high level business requirements into technical specifications, designs and architectures.
* Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during design, development and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required, Computer Science degree preferred
* Minimum 6 years of professional experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting software in an enterprise or SaaS environment
* Strong skills with hands on programming, design, and deep functional experience with micro-services architecture, crafting and deploying Web applications and APIs (REST, JSON, XML, SOAP) using .NET, ASP.NET Core and Java
* Experience with Front-End Framework technologies desired (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, JSON, Angular)
* Experience with MS SQL Server preferred
* Open minded and strong experience in consuming Open-source technologies
* Passionate about Lean, Agile and Iterative development methodologies
* Ability to understand high level business requirements and produce technical specifications, designs and architectures
* Comfortable with complex data structures and algorithms, and absorbing new technologies quickly

Preferred:

* Experience with Test Driven Development and Unit Test Frameworks a plus
* Experience with Team Foundation Server and Jira
* Proficient in database technologies (PostgreSQL, and/or NoSQL)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience in building cloud-native applications is highly desired, experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
