Required skills/experience: Expert level system monitoring experience; demonstrated experience with enterprise monitoring tools (Splunk, Nagios, etc.); demonstrated hands-on experience and knowledge of Linux platforms (RHEL, CentOS) including administration, management and troubleshooting; hands-on experience designing and writing scrips (PowerShell, bash, groovy, python, etc.) for automating installations, deployments and configurations; experience developing an enterprise monitoring strategy to include non-enterprise monitoring and logging; demonstrated experience provisioning servers, networks and storage environments; experience identifying gaps in system designs as it relates to enterprise monitoring and logging standards; demonstrated experience using Splunk to produce reports for historical performance, log and other metric data.

Desired skills/experience: Experience with SQL, SQLServer and other databases; experience using code versioning software; experience performing software builds; expert level knowledge and experience with Linux/Unix; knowledge of Big Data tools, including Hadoop ecosystem, SOLR, Blur, etc.; exposure to and understanding of AWS technologies; experience with Syslog

Description:• Work cross divisionally to develop a monitoring strategy that will work on the new platform and AWS based architecture• Utilize current and new tools to engineer a monitoring service that will alert the ops center and other technicians to issues, incidents and other problems• Collaborate with business users to discuss and review monitoring requirements to ensure compatibility for optimal system performance• Perform current state system analysis• Write functional and technical specifications of current state systems and provide weekly status reports regarding system engineering and integration initiatives• Work within a diverse IT infrastructure, which includes storage/backup platforms, middleware, and software development environments• Analyze the existing monitoring infrastructure (Spunk / Nagios) to develop an adaptable and scalable design that meets the mission customer's need • Provide ad hoc data mining and reporting as requested for historical performance, logging and other metric data requirements• Interact with team members to retrieve and transform data to be displayed in a GUI or data visualization tool
