About HCI BU

VMware's Hyper-converged Infrastructure Business Unit's goal is to continue to be the industry leader in Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) and HCI solutions, which includes vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and the vRealize Suite of products.

About vSAN Data Protection

vSAN is the underlying storage platform for VMware's HCI offering with a rapidly growing customer base. The vSAN Data Protection team is looking to hire a talented and passionate engineer to work on the next generation snapshotting technology for VMware's storage portfolio. This technology aims to provide data protection and disaster recovery solutions spanning vSAN, vSphere and VMware Cloud on AWS.

You will help drive new storage policy-based data protection capabilities for VMware's hyper-converged storage platform, as a member of the core development team and will work with architects, product management teams and other stakeholders across different business units spread over multiple geographical locations.

Responsibilities

Your duties will include design, implementation, testing, and debugging of new product features.

You will work closely with architects, product management teams and other partners across sites to design and develop new features.

You will collaborate with Quality Engineers to ensure the quality of the developed products.

You will also work with other core engineering teams and groups outside of engineering in helping to analyze and prioritize product features.

Required Skills

4+ years of experience in developing and working with distributed systems written in C/C++.

Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills including use of tools.

Strong programming skills in C++, C, and Python.

Excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to dive deep to unravel complex problems/issues.

Passion for building quality products using good testing methodologies.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with storage, file systems, data protection, and disaster recovery technologies.
