Sr Manager, Software Engineering (Java, AWS, Spark)

By joining our Risk and Governance team, you will:

* Build microservices to fully automate and integrate the full lifecycle of issues & events management into our real-time, event-based data ecosystem in the public cloud


* Build platforms and machine learning-driven capabilities to support investigations of AML and other financial crimes


* Develop governance capabilities for the company's advanced analytic environments where data scientists rapidly build and deploy models & algorithms



Responsibilities:

* Recruit, manage, and retain a team of talented engineers


* Mentor less experienced people managers and lead by example


* Influence peer teams and leadership to ensure our technology culture is one where engineers proudly do their best work every day


* Raise the bar for technical excellence


* Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria


* Work as part of a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle


* Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to construct a product delivery strategy, reasonable roadmaps, and timelines


* Collaborate with architects, engineers, data scientists, and analysts to implement enhancements or new applications


* Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards and expected quality


* Estimate level of effort to develop code to meet acceptance criteria


* Navigate the organization as necessary to unblock the team and ensure timely delivery



Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or military experience


* At least 8 years of application development experience


* At least 5 years of experience with JVM languages


* At least 5 years of experience with JavaScript frameworks


* At least 5 years of experience with writing software leveraging automated testing and TDD practices


* At least 4 years of people management responsibilities with direct reports


* At least 3 years of experience working with CICD pipelines


* At least 1 year of experience working with public or private cloud infrastructure



Preferred Qualifications:

* Exposure to Java performance tuning and monitoring


* Experience working with Spring frameworks


* Experience working with Docker


* Experience with Ansible / Terraform


* Experience in publish/subscribe queuing systems (kafka, MQ-Series, or SQS)


* Experience with Spark


* Experience working with Machine Learning teams


* Experience with Micro services architecture (design and implementation)


* Open source contributions
