Verisign, a global leader in domain name registry services and internet infrastructure, enables internet navigation for many of the world's most recognized domain names. Verisign enables the security, stability, and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including providing root zone maintainer services, operating two of the 13 global internet root servers, and providing registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, which support the majority of global e-commerce.

The Senior Network Architect plays a vital role in the evolution of the Verisign data center, WAN and security strategies on the Network Architecture, Engineering & Automation, and Operations team. This person will play a crucial role in the Verisign data center evolution to public and private cloud. This evolution will focus on containerization and micro-segmentation security solutions.

This position collaborates with various stakeholders throughout the business to define requirement specifications that drive end goal solutions and vendor selections. The incumbent serves as an expert in the areas of internet routing protocol operation, network analysis and statistics generation, vendor and hardware/software selection, peering & transit issues, security mechanisms, attack mitigation, capacity planning, router, switch and firewall configuration, troubleshooting, and end-to-end network engineering.

Key responsibilities:

* Collaborates with various stakeholders throughout the business to define requirement specifications. These requirements will drive the end goal solutions and vendor selections and develops plans and strategies for improving processes and project direction.


* Authors architectural artifacts that serve as guardrails used by all other technology teams in their work to ensure a continuity and shared vision across the various technology teams. Is responsible for the designing and execution of test plans that validate proposed solutions.


* Communicates Verisign's needs with various vendors to ensure that their products and roadmaps are aligned with those of Verisign. Works closely with members of the technical community to help define best practices and security measures that will ensure the continuity of the Internet as well as protect Verisign assets.


* Interacts on a regular basis with Network Engineering and Automation to drive to fruition highly technical and complex network solutions and designs. Interacts with key stakeholders to improve the reliability and availability of critical infrastructure products.


* Documents Technical Architecture Documents, approved vendor and platform lists, and Network Engineering handoffs.


* 10 or more years of experience in network design & integration, planning in a multi-tiered network (includes data centers & WAN)


* Experience with public and private cloud


* 3 or more years of experience leading technology and business critical projects


* 4 Year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience - required


* Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred
