Responsibilities:

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Computing & Virtual Infrastructure) will ensure the global computing platform that supports the business is expertly selected, designed, delivered, optimized and supported during the entire virtual infrastructure lifecycle.

In this role, the Lead Infrastructure Engineer will work collaboratively with architects, infrastructure engineers, applications teams and Technology Architecture & Business Development across the organization.

* Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade and support VMware on various hardware platforms within large global data centers
* Configure and deploy various server platforms
* Diagnose and trouble-shoot VMware and other related technologies
* Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required
* Participate in the evaluation, deployment and management of new technologies in alignment with other engineers and architects
* Incident support and participation in on-call rotation during off hours and weekends
* Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books and other technical engineering documents
* Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes

Requirements:

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science and Math or related discipline with an IT emphasis is required. A graduate degree in Technology, Business or equivalent work experience is preferred

* A minimum of 10 years supporting large and complex global data center virtualization and server computing platforms
* Expert hands on administration experience with VMware (ESX, ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, DRS) and other virtualization technologies and concepts
* Strong experience with Cisco UCS Servers and Fabric Interconnects
* Expert experience designing, deploying, supporting, and trouble-shooting VMware in large global environment
* VCP Certified highly preferred
* Experience with VMware Product Suite (such as VCOPs)
* Experience with capacity planning and sizing large global VMware environments
* Experience with data center migrations - moving VM workloads
* Expert Experience configuring and deploying various server platforms (Cisco UCS, HP, Dell, etc.)
* Solid understanding of essential TCP/IP protocols: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, and understanding of wider set protocols.
* Solid understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, firmware.
* Strong experience with design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms
* Extensive experience in performance tuning and optimizing computing platforms.

Lead Duties

* Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of dotted line team members
* Lead a team of infrastructure engineers (work assignment, scheduling, task management, mentoring)
* Responsible for setting task priorities for team and allocating resources based on the priorities.
* Guides and mentors Infrastructure Engineers
* Assigns work based on Engineers competency and availability.
* Collaborates with management on annual goals, objectives, performance review oversight, discipline, promoting and training of team.
* Trains new hires.
* Fills in for absent team members
