BASIC FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for gathering and assessing business information needs and preparing system requirements. Performs analyses, development and evaluation of data mining in a data warehouse environment which includes data design, database architecture, and metadata and repository creation. Uses data mining and data analysis tools. Reviews and validates data loaded into the data warehouse for accuracy. Generates ad hoc reports and regular datasets or report information for end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts. Integrates data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements. Programs and maintains report forms and formats, information dashboards, data generators, canned reports and other end-user information portals or resources. May create specifications for reports based on business requests. Interacts with user community to produce reporting requirements. Provides technical consulting to users of the various data warehouses and advises users on conflicts and inappropriate data usage. Responsible for prototyping solutions, preparing test scripts, and conducting tests and for data replication, extraction, loading, cleansing, and data modeling for data warehouses. Maintains knowledge of software tools, languages, scripts, and shells that effectively support the data warehouse environment in different operating system environments. Possesses working knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and data warehouse front-end tools. Must have an extensive knowledge of data warehouse and data mart concepts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor Degree and 4 years' experience with data analysis and manipulation OR 6 years' experience with data analysis and manipulation to include experience in leading and management of project tasks.
* 5 years' experience in SQL or other BASIC programming language.
* 6 years of data analysis and information reporting experience, including 3 years obtaining an understanding of information repository issues and concepts.
* Experience in JAD (joint application design) facilitation or other requirements gathering techniques.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences both in written and verbal form.
* Experience in development implementations, data modeling, or data mapping efforts.
* Experience creating clear and concise project documentation.
* Knowledge of relational database concepts, and the creation of queries and reports using SQL or reporting tools (i.e., Cognos).
* Understanding of data elements as they relate to data quality requirements.
* Strong analytical, conceptual and root cause analysis skills.
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously both independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals.
* Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal, written and communication skills.
* Experience using statistical concepts with an ability to apply to informatics reporting.
* Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise
* Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices
* Takes initiative to solve complex problems; takes an
* outside in perspective to identify innovative solutions
* Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
* May lead functional teams or projects or decisions to support this awareness; knows how to use the formal and informal systems to get things done.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

* Previous experience using Teradata SQL, SAS, or writing complex SQL on large databases
* Experience in health care data analytics and reporting data such as claims/encounters, membership, etc
* Experience with data modeling and mining
* Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field
* Experience working with EDI standards such 837, 277CA, 999, etc.
* Experience with data extraction and exchange (SFTP)
* Experience in ETL development, data loads, cleansing, and database utilities
* Any experience working in UNIX environments or shell scripting is a plus
* Any experience with HDFS and HIVE is a plus

This position is based in Richardson, TX.
