What's the role?

You will be responsible for improving software design, development, and quality of end to end solutions for features and technologies within the business. Your role will be necessary to shaping innovative and scalable solutions that enable our teams to achieve cost reductions, quality improvements, cycle time reductions, & customer satisfaction. You'll work with global teams to understand requirements, build business cases for improvement opportunities, establish critical metrics, monitor process performance, lead change, build models for decision-making, and support risk identification and mitigation.

* You'll need to be able to own the organization through change, evolution, and sustained growth.
* We anticipate that about 70% of your time will be allocated for software delivery with the rest spent on managerial activities.

Here's what you'll do:

* In concert with Product Management define future product directions, priorities and roadmaps.
* Will be accountable for delivering OLP Core Services according to product and technology development plans with high performance at the lowest possible cost.
* Provide technical leadership and make critical technical contributions to the delivered products
* Handle resource allocation, identify staffing shortages, conduct organization planning and development
* Guide, mentor and develop team members to help them reach their potential and expand their expertise
* Build a culture of respect, delivery and innovation in the team; empower managers and individual contributors to make the biggest impact possible for the company while reaching their professional development goals.
* Utilize an agile mindset to create a collaborative environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, mastery, innovation, and learning; promote the best engineering practices and continuous improvement, individual competence and accountability
* Operations, resourcing, budgeting and competence development of the engineering teams. Coordination of functions between geographically distributed teams
* Ensure prompt response to all production, customer support and quality issues
* Establish and institutionalize organ

Who are you?

*

8+ years of authoritative level coding skills in Java (recent experience in back-end Java desired), experienced in building and operating highly reliable, scalable data-processing systems;
* 5+ years running R&D teams, including growing an organization and shaping its structure.
* Ability to demonstrate proven knowledge of computer science fundamentals like data structures and algorithms; validated experience with transforming ideas into commercial products; profound experience with digital mapping industry and location based services
* Hands-on experience in all phases of developing complex software systems including architecture, design, prototyping, implementation, testing and deployment; consistent track record of working as a software developer with proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Java and Scala;
* Working knowledge and practical experience with Web Services, Soap, Rest; good understanding of open source frameworks such as Apache Spark, Flink, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka and at least one cloud services platform such as AWS or similar.
* Creative, actionable and driven; lives on the cutting edge of technology and evangelizes innovation
* Ability to effectively interact and quickly forge and develop alliances with internal & external partners; effectively influences and communicates multi-functionally with all levels including customers and partners
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, Master's degree in related discipline, would be preferred.
