Job Description

Who you are:

You're a Sr. Director of Engineering passionate about establishing teams and team culture, the product, and the process to bring it to market. You're expert in building and operating new offerings with agility and urgency, and understand what it means to develop and operate performance enterprise grade solutions that are easy to use, configure and maintain. You are comfortable managing a team of 50+ engineers/managers, and have proven experience in using a DevOps approach to deliver a complex portfolio of products which rely on both custom hardware and software. Reporting directly to the Head of Technology, you will develop relationship across all aspects the organization including the Director+ leaders of Field Operations, Finance, Accounting and Operations, with significant opportunity to support the Head of Technology in their interactions with the C-Suite.

What you'll do:

* Be a recognized inspiring leader, with a strong ability to influence others, build consensus, lead and develop teams, engage engineers, and drive towards business and technical decisions.
* Be passionate about building an excellent technology development and delivery process
* Be the direct leader of the Software and Hardware Engineering functions, along with managing and developing DevOps and Technical Operations teams.
* Be a leader with experience building highly available, horizontally scalable, secure cloud-based services using state of the art process and technology.
* Be a leader with experience maintaining and maturing a portfolio of hardware platforms.
* Align technology to business strategy, and drive a mature technical approach throughout the organization
* Document and align with quality processes following a CI/CD delivery methodology
* Interface with 3rd party vendors to evaluate and integrate their capabilities into the core offering
* Own the relation with domestic and near shore development centers, leveraging their capacity to meet delivery commitments as needed
* Plan and execute on software and hardware deliveries, consistently releasing required feature sets on-time and on-budget

Your background:

Education & Experience

* Bachelor's degree in related field required.
* 15+ years' proven experience in software engineering leadership roles.
* Strong engineering delivery and execution track record, with proven experience around design concepts, development, quality, integration, testing, etc..
* Management experience with equivalent sized organizations, including experience leading a team of hardware engineers.
* Experience in building cloud based application, familiar with containers and orchestration for geo redundancy.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* Ability to attract talent, encourage the organization, and develop the next generation of leaders.
* Ability to build trusting, significant relationships with peers and partners, both internal and external.
* Excellent track record in collaboration
* Excellent knowledge of programming languages, including the Windows ecosystem and .NET platforms.
* Familiarity with Unix/Linux and API based development.
* Creative analytical skills and excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills.
* Ability to manage geo distributed teams and work towards long-term goals.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and work independently with minimal executive oversight.
* Knowledge of automated test execution systems, embedded, distributed, custom systems.
* Knowledge and experience implementing Continuous Delivery model.
* Experience with Continuous Integration, Build systems, and Source Code Control tools.
* Exposure to large scale software builds, integration, and test environments.
* Be open to continuous learning and committed to ongoing self-improvement.
* Initiate and participate in interpersonal efforts to improve overall group productivity and test effectiveness. Contribute to overall test strategies.
